I recently bought a new home finished in early 2009. The previous (first) owner clearly liked the special touches. Virtually all of the light switches are labelled "Lutron". My reading online is that some (all?) Lutron switches are capable of connecting wirelessly to a hub of some sort to be controlled in a home automation setup, which sounds like a fun project to play with. I'm curious if these switches are of that type or not?

Some extra detail in case it helps. The owner did not leave any remotes, nor are there fancy control panels in the walls or anything like this. All of the switches have dimmer capability. Some of them have bulbs inside that light when the switch is off to make it easy to find in the dark. I'm not sure what I'm looking for. I don't see model numbers or anything.

Here is a photo of one of the switches with the wall plates off: enter image description here

The left is an on/off rocker with a dimmer on the side and the right is a momentary button that toggles a light.

Find the part number, look it up. They are probably plain-old dimmers. The one on the right looks like it was secured with drywall screws - should probably replace those. – Steven Nov 22 '12 at 13:07
