I have 1200 sqft area of flooring that is going to be insulated with cotton. The installers say that sound proof insulation is going to cost $1000 more. So that's like almost an extra $0.80 per sqft.

Couldn't find anything online regarding pricing and I know pricing will vary by region but just wondering if that kind of pricing is normal? Roughly speaking.

We don't typically like questions about cost; since as you say, it can vary by region, over time, etc. You could always get some quotes from other companies, to determine if this is a fair price. – Tester101♦ Sep 12 '12 at 11:12

That seems pretty cheap..

There are many kinds of soundproofing, and that seems pretty cheap. Have a look at the prices here - they range from £6.50 per square metre for acoustic rock wool slabs to £51 per square metre for acoustic barrier mats.
