I want to use a water source reverse cycle heat pump AC for a 8000m2 aged care facility.

Location has moderate summer (22 deg C max) and cold winter (<0 deg c).

On site pond is only 400m3. I understand this is a bit small. Is there a way to get water source heat pump to work without having to increase size of pond?

Calling this "Home improvement" is stretching things. Anyway, the laws of thermodynamics are cruel. If the pond is too small, then as you draw too much heat from the water, it will undergo a phase change. That phase change will be encouraged when the outside air temperature is below freezing. – woodchips Sep 3 '12 at 11:59
